Privacy Policy

Ballboy (“we”, “us”) is a tennis scoring companion for Apple Watch and iPhone. This policy explains what information the Ballboy app and the ballboy.app website collect, how it’s used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, we don’t show ads, and your health data never leaves your device for advertising or any third party — ever.

When you use Ballboy, we collect:

• Account information — the email address (and name, if you share one) used to sign in, so your matches can sync between devices.
• Match data — scores, sets, match formats, statistics, timestamps, and any details you enter about a match, such as opponent names.
• Match location — if you grant location access, the place a match was played, so your logbook can show where you played. Location is captured only around a match; Ballboy never tracks your location in the background.
• Health and fitness data — with your permission, heart rate and active energy (calories) from Apple Health (HealthKit) during a match, so you can see workout stats alongside your score.

On the website, if you join the waitlist or contact support, we collect the email address and message you submit — nothing else. The website does not use advertising trackers.

Ballboy reads heart rate and active energy from HealthKit, and saves your matches as workouts to Apple Health, only after you explicitly grant permission. Health data is used for exactly one purpose: showing you your own workout stats inside Ballboy.

Your health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining; is never sold; and is never shared with or disclosed to any third party. It stays on your device in Apple Health and is not stored on our servers. You can revoke Ballboy’s access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

• To provide the service — recording matches, syncing your logbook across devices, and showing your stats.
• To respond when you contact support.
• To send you the emails you asked for, like waitlist updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Account and match data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, and are encrypted in transit. Health data stays in Apple Health on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

Ballboy relies on a small set of providers to run, each of which receives only what it needs:

• Apple — sign-in, App Store purchases, and HealthKit. Subscriptions are billed by Apple; we never see your payment details.
• Supabase — hosting for account and match data.
• Email delivery providers — used by the website to deliver waitlist and support emails you request.

We keep your account and match data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and its data from within the app, or reach out via the support page and we’ll delete it for you. Deleting your account removes your data from our servers; workouts already saved to Apple Health remain on your device under your control.

Ballboy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Meaningful changes will also be called out in the app or by email.
